dvddgalpetThis photo was taken by Rich at the ON24 layoff party. Here, Gaelen Gates, Me and Peter Shaplen are sporting “Money down the toilet” T-shirts in honor of our former company. Gaelen and I went to law school – Peter went on to be the go-to-guy for network TV and radio news pool-coverage of major media events.

ON24 2000During New Year’s 2000, this is my only souvenir. At the time, I was working at ON24 and my shift was 4 a.m. to 2 p.m. My normal bedtime was 6:30 p.m.

Although I set my alarm to wake up early, I slept through midnight and completely missed the Year 2000 celebration. But kept this noisemaker for almost 8 years until I scanned it for this site and tossed it in the trash bin.

Moving flyerThis is a map I made for the law office move on summer 2006. It was printed on a postcard and mailed to all of our clients and most the the attorneys and vendors we dealt with at the time.

99-04-22 KRON thanksWhen I worked at KRON-TV in the late 1990s, they had this program called “1001 Thanks” – named after the street address, 1001 Van Ness. The program allowed anyone – coworkers, supervisors, interns or otherwise, publicly thank a fellow employee with a note. A carbon copy went in your permanent personnel file. Of all the thanks I got, this one was particularly touching to me. It reminds me that no matter how small we think our job is, that we still can have a big impact on the lives of those around us.
