For the week ending December 17, 2006 (Monday through Sunday), “Profiles in Terror” a new episode of NBC’s Medium drew the largest audience of all science fiction and fantasy series on broadcast network television, according to Nielsen figures gleaned from various media outlets.

Famed animator Joseph Barbera (half of the storied Hanna-Barbera cartoon duo) died Monday at his home of natural causes. He was 95.

Along with his partner, William Hanna, Barbera got his big start in 1940 creating the Tom & Jerry cartoon shorts for MGM. After the studio closed its animation unit in 1957, the 7-time Oscar-winning Hanna and Barbera struck out on their own.

Three years after gaining independence, the pair debuted the animated sitcom The Flintstone in 1960. The first-ever prime time cartoon, the modern Stone Age family became an international hit, airing in 80 countries.

Other genre creations of Hanna Barbera included The Jetsons, Jonny Quest, Scooby-Doo, Space Ghost and Super Friends. A full list of his science fiction and fantasy-themed programs are listed below.
