Noted British fantasy and science fiction  Diana Wynne Jones has decided to stop treatment to fight the lung cancer she was diagnosed with last summer, according to Ansible 275 .

Forget Apple vs. Amazon: Publishers Just Want A Universal eBook Format

This article is very poorly researched.

An open-source system called EPUB – which has been around since 2007 – is already supported by Apple (iPad,iPhone,Ipod), Google (Android) and RIM (Blackberry) as well as any gadget running on Windows, Linux, OS X, iPhone or Symbian OS and can run a browser (IE, Firefox, Chrome, Safari, Opera, etc.)
