Trekkies Bash New Star Trek Film As ‘Fun, Watchable’

The following is a bad Obama joke my oldest sister sent me in a text message this week:

Years ago, it used to be said that America would elect a black man president “when pigs fly.”

Sure enough: it’s 2009 and SWINE FLU!

[Insert bad-pun groans here]

I got this from a web page that examined my personality type – which is INTJ.

1. Be willing to back up your statements with facts – or at least some pretty sound reasoning.
2. Don’t expect him to respect you or your viewpoints just because you say so. David’s respect must be earned.
3. Be willing to concede when you are wrong. David respects the truth over being “right.” Withdraw your erroneous comment and admit your mistake and he will see you as a very reasonable person. Stick to erroneous comments and he will think you are an irrational idiot and treat everything you say as being questionable.
4. Try not to be repetitive. It annoys him.
5. Do not feed him a line of bull.
6. Expect debate. David likes to tear ideas apart and prove their worthiness. He will even argue a point he doesn’t actually support for the sake of argument.
7. Do not mistake the strength of your conviction with the strength of your argument. David does not need to believe in a position to argue it or argue it well. Therefore, it will take more than fervor to sway him.
8. Do not be surprised at sarcasm.
9. Remember that David believes in workable solutions. He is extremely open-minded to possibilities, but will quickly discard any idea that is unfeasible. David’s open-mindedness means that he is willing to have a go at an idea by trying to pull it apart. This horrifies people who expect oohs and ahhs and reverence. The ultimate David insult to an idea is to ignore it, because that means it’s not even interesting enough to deconstruct.
10. This also means that David will not just accept any viewpoint that is presented to them. The bottom line is “Does it work?” – end discussion.
11. Do not expect David to actually care about how you view him. He already knows that he is an arrogant bastard with a morbid sense of humor. Telling him the obvious accomplishes nothing.

I was forwarded a YouTube video clip from Rich today. It’s from a 80s-something band called “Sonseed,” singing a ska song named “Jesus is my Friend.” Wow.

It is CAMP-A-LICIOUS and hilarious with a catchy tune.

The lyrics alone make this worth watching and listening to:
