Installing Laura & Theresa’s new HDTV on their wall
What Rich and I did Saturday afternoon?
We wall-mounted the new 52-inch HDTV that Theresa and Laura got earlier this week. We volunteered to do it because we did the same HDTV switch-over in our house last year, so I guess were becoming TV-on-wall experts.
Below are a couple photos of the big day. (Click the thumbnail pics to see a larger version)
Here was the scene when we arrived: Huge TV sitting way too low on a chest. Laura has ordered a cabinet to go under the new TV - but it has not arrived yet. So, the electronics are on a TV tray next to the TV.
After L&T’s rugrats went to take a nap, we started site prep. First, we moved everything out of the way to get a blank canvas.
Three hours of heavy lifting … and here is the final product. Don’t let the optical illusion fool you, the TV is perfectly level. It is just purposefully tilted a little down and to the right for better viewing for those seated in the room. It is playing the DVD - 300.
Within a few days, Comcast will be installing HD equipment and the newly ordered under-TV console should arrive. For a snapshot of the final setup, I’ll take a new picture of it next month when I’m over there for our annual Christmas gathering.
[Until then, to better show the final future look, I took the liberty of photo-shopping out the cables, which will be enclosed in a small conduit painted to blend in with the wall.]
